DESCRIPTION. Boojum are continuing to Expand and we are looking for passionate and experienced cooks to come and join our team. Only applicants with experience working in a kitchen will be accepted for this position. Job Summary: The cook role is primarily to prepare, season, and cook food and help with the overall running of the kitchen/restaurant. Duties: To ensure that the Kitchen is operated in a smooth and professional manner. To communicate regularly and effectively with the Restaurant Manager, Area Manager and Kitchen Manager. To treat all staff, customers and service staff with respect. To ensure all food that is prepared following company recipes (Kitchen Folder. To ensure correct prep levels and instructions are left for Kitchen Staff returning from days off or holidays. To ensure that all holiday requests and absence are reported to Restaurant Manager and Kitchen Manager as soon as possible. To ensure orders being placed with suppliers and Prep kitchen are at correct levels. If business levels increase or decrease, to amend order levels discussing this with Restaurant manager. To ensure that all food presented to customers is prepared with the freshest ingredients and the finest flavour. To prepare and present quality food (following correct food and hygiene standards – Safe Catering Folder) and all final products leaving the kitchen are at the Boojum Standard. To ensure any stock issues are dealt with on delivery with supplier rep and resolved as quickly as possible, failing resolution Kitchen Manager and Restaurant Manager should be informed immediately. To report any issues with food delivery, quality and freshness to the Restaurant Manager and Kitchen Manager. To follow the Stock Labelling and Rotation System to ensure the products are identifiable and used in the correct order. To ensure the Kitchen is presentable, organised and clean at all times. To ensure kitchen is left in a clean and hygienic condition before premises is vacated. To ensure all equipment is clean and switched of at the end of the day, i.e. extraction fans, cooker, dishwasher. To ensure that the Kitchen is fully maintained and all maintenance issues are discussed with the Restaurant Manager. To assist in ensuring all stock levels are managed and accounted for in an efficient manner while keeping wastage to a minimal level. To check quality of stock for freshness, weight, use by dates etc. and communicate issues to the Restaurant Manager an. REQUIREMENTS. Minimum six months proven experience working in a busy kitchen environment. A no compromise attitude to food safety. A no compromise attitude to food hygiene. Ability to work in a team.
