Description

Software Build Engineer - ++ / JAVA / Scripting -required for permanent role in Galway. Responsibilties: Design, Create & maintain Build and Continuous Integration environment for R&D team. Improving processes and producing documentation for current and future work. Ensure the build system and repositories are always accessible and running. Execution, monitoring and troubleshooting of daily builds. Work closely with development teams to analyze, debug and resolve any build issues. Development of common build automation and tools for use across software development sites. Provide support and flexibility for any required changes to build/release/version control processes. Configure and manage issue tracking environment. Configure and manage software version control environment. Creating code branches, merging changes and overall maintenance. Integration with various tools (Jenkins, Code Review, etc.) Providing up to date, timely and clear communication to all the stakeholders. Interacting and communicating with development and cross functional teams. Tracking and reporting status and metrics. Continuous improvement & innovation; Help define best practices for source control, continuous integration, automated testing and release management. Identify opportunities for build process improvement. Identify industry best practises. Identify areas of lost efficiency and propose solutions. Identify new tools and methodologies. Essential Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering: Software Eng, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. Min 3 years engineering experience in IT. Good programming skills in ++ OR Python OR JAVA OR Perl. Experience with Shell scripting Good Knowledge of Windows or Linux or MAC Operating systems. Good Knowledge of Software version and revision systems (SVN, Serena Dimensions. Experience in setting up continuous integration tools , preferably Jenkins. Ability to be able to react/respond quickly to issues and be able to ‘think on your feet’ Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options. Mindset of continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Advanatageous: Master's qualified. Good Exposure to Branching and Merge strategies. Experience with software build tools, ideally CMake. Exposure to integrating the build infrastructure with automated tools to enforce code quality as well as automated tests.
