Lead Mechanical Engineer - Galway. You will be responsible for developing, planning, controlling the Mechanical design activities to meet the department deliverables and business performance expectations. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES. Supervise the Mechanical Team: Conduct objectives settings and reviews with each member of the group. Work with the R&D Manager and/or project engineers on forward planning usage of resources and budget required to meet corporate objectives. Work with the R&D Manager to set up training plans for the Mechanical team members. 2. Recruitment: Lead the recruitment of new staff where a gap has been identified. Contribute to the role profile definition, filtering of CVs, selection of candidates and decision making. 3. Supplier Management: Manage all Mechanical and other activities outsourced to external mechanical engineering suppliers. Work with the R&D Manager to set up contracts. Establish statement of work, raise POs and ensure that suppliers deliver output according to agreed contract. 4. Mechanical Design: Delivery of mechanical solutions that meet the requirements of product design teams, marketing, purchasing and manufacturing with respect to packaging, plastic parts and other mechanical components. 5. Design Control Documentation: Generate design control documentation in line with the quality system. 6. Verification and Validation: Plan and carry out design verification and validation. 7. Vendor Support: Technically support implementation of new designs at vendors. 8. Industrial Design: Work with Industrial Designers at the handover stage of concepts and finalise mechanical requirements. 9. Project Teams : Contribute to multi-functional project teams. Deliver mechanical designs that meet documented goals.   ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE SOUGHT: Mechanical Engineering (Honours) Degree. and a Minimum 5 years experience in Medical Devices or/and Consumer Electronics. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES SOUGHT: • 3-D Modelling skills to a high standard – Pro-Engineer required. • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, presenting ideas clearly and concisely. • Can come up with innovative solutions to problems and contributes ideas for product/process improvements or new products. • Manage own workload, meeting deadlines and allocating priorities. • Team-working skills for cross-functional teams. • Motivated. • Willingness to commit self to challenging objectives. • High standards of work. • Good analytical and problem solving approach. • Systematic & orderly. • Works effectively under pressure. • Manages own time to good effect. • Innovative. • Knowledge of the IEC 60601 standard, ISO 13485 and ISO 14971 is an advantage.
