Test Development Engineer - County Galway. In this role you will research, design and develop the Test Systems Strategy, through working closely with all R&D Teams, and gaining a clear understanding of future product requirements.Development of fully featured test systems from early prototype/feasibility stage, to High-Volume, tightly regulated, production processes. Design & development of standardised Test Strategies to meet project milestones. Key Responsibilities: General: Drive Test Engineering best practices including Software and Hardware standardisation from Prototyping through to Series Production. Leverage World Class R&D and Production Teams both locally and internationally to quickly understand Project requirements, risks, milestones and develop test strategy timing plans and deliverables. Project manage internal/external development of test systems. Provide Test System development cost estimate to support customer RFQs. Drive mindset of Continuous Improvement. Provide informal and formal (documented) training as part of Project handover to Production. Hardware Development: Integration of Test applications to Automated Production Processes. Liaise with Design Engineers (Hardware/Software & Mechanical), and Process Engineering, in the design, development and delivery of Test System solutions, and provide input/updates to DFT, DFMs, PFMEAs & Design Reviews. Specify and design test fixtures, considering Poka Yoke techniques, tolerance stack up etc. Drive Test Engineering best practices within the Hardware & Mechanical Engineering Design Teams. Upgrade of existing tester platforms to trial new hardware/test solutions & release of validated solutions to production systems with supporting documentation and training in place. Validation/Qualification: Generation of Qualification Plan and statistical data to validate product test strategy. Generation of Technical & Training documentation. Generation of detailed NPI build reports, process yields, failure modes, etc. Interested applicants should have: Degree/Diploma Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with relevant practical experience. Essential. Minimum 2 years' experience within Electronics manufacturing environment. Experience with Automation equipment (Sensors, I/O, PLC’s, Robotics, Scanners. Experience with CAD packages, SolidWorks. Proven capability in mechanical assembly i.e. ability to work autonomously on machinery. Experience in document writing is required, i.e. procedures, specifications, reports, etc. Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles (i.e. strengths, torques, forces. Capable of generating and understanding Capability and R&R reports. Advantage: PLC programming. Experience with Vision based products/applications. NI LabVIEW and TestStand experience considered beneficial. Desirable: Project management skills. Experience in automated machine assembly, including FAT’s, and machine qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ.
