Trainee Patent Attorney - Galway

A Trainee Patent Attorney job opportunity is available with our client, an exceptional European IP firm living up to its founder's dream “to create something amazing”.

Our client provides consultancy and legal representation services, supporting organisations of all sizes and descriptions to secure intellectual property protection. This includes trade mark and design registrations in addition to patents.

Our client opened recently in Galway - its first office outside the UK. This presents a unique and exciting opportunity to qualify as a Patent Attorney in the West of Ireland. What skills do you need to be a fine Patent Attorney and to succeed with our client?

• You love technology with a passion. But you love commerce too - especially the challenge of building a business while helping others to build theirs. So you enjoy dealing with people in the real world, not just abstract ideas. And you thrive on supporting your colleagues in a team.
• You have an excellent first degree in engineering, science or mathematics. You may have a higher degree too. Perhaps you also have ability in another major language.
• Maybe you have postgraduate experience in industry; enough to know that you don't want to be pigeonholed into just one technical field.
• You're energetic, articulate and at ease communicating with people on all levels. You take special pride in how you express yourself, especially in writing.
• You have the drive to start at the ground floor in a demanding profession. You'll need tenacity to get through tough exams to qualify in Europe, Ireland and the UK while delivering superb client service.
• You're willing and able to invest time in business development, attending events out of hours and travelling to see clients wherever they may be. You welcome the opportunity to spend time in the UK as well as in Ireland. You love the idea of growing a new office while having the support and opportunities of a front-rank firm.
• You have humility, integrity and an unwavering commitment to being the best you can be. But you don’t take yourself too seriously.
