Description

Smyths Toys is an Irish owned toy retailer with over 100 stores throughout Ireland and the UK, as well as a phenomenal online presence. As one of Ireland’s 200 biggest companies, we have plans for further expansion and a constant drive to improve what we do. There’s never been a more exciting time to join! We are looking for a Buying Assistant to join our growing team at our Galway Head Office. Have you a passion for retail, buying and selling? Do you want to be in charge of your own future and career development? In an era where many large organisations are governed by process and where talent is restricted by rules, we aim to do things differently. We look for people who will always do the right thing; not people who just follow the rules, nor people who are satisfied to do as we’ve always done or who are content to be a very small cog in the wheel. We want people to challenge the rules, who make decisions based on sound rationale and take risks based on this, who seek to improve what we do. Toy retailing is FAST ! In this environment there are constant challenges. As a Buying Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in our buying process. Unlike most retailers, our Buyers are completely responsible for the full life cycle of their product ranges. This entails market research, product selection, space management, marketing activities, ensuring appropriate levels of stock at all times……and everything in between! You will act as the implementer of their decisions. Do you want to become a Buyer in the near future? Are you business focused and numerate? Can you apply common sense to every situation? Can you prioritise your work? Are you able to communicate well with others? Are you able to manage your time? Can youthink on your feet? Do you thrive on responsibility? If the answer to all of the above is yes, then we want to talk to you. What will you do as a Buying Assistant for Smyths Toys? Place orders for stock in a timely fashion with accuracy. Amend max/min replenishment figures for stock to reflect sales patterns. Update delivery dates in conjunction with the Logistics and Central Purchasing Departments and communicating same to relevant stakeholders. Liaise with suppliers on a regular basis in relation to stock, meetings, etc. Maintain product data on website. Communicate with internal stakeholders, such as stores, other HO departments, DC’s, etc. Monitor and replenishing stock to stores. Support catalogue production. Produce weekly and adhoc reports. What do we offer you? Career progression that is dictated solely by your capabilities. Space to succeed, flourish and prove yourself within a team environment where support is ever present. Initial induction and mentors who will support and assist your training and development. Increased responsibility as your capabilities increase. Competitive salary and benefits. We want to you to succeed – we need you to succeed but the biggest determinant of your success is you. In Smyths, you are in charge of your own future. Closing date for applications: December 31st 2017. This job originally appeared on RecruitIreland.com.
